Job Description

Impact & Strategy Analytics Intern

VisionFund's work seeks to end intergenerational poverty through financial products and services. We're about the long-term change that ensures children can break free of the poverty cycle, for good.

By supporting people and communities living in poverty to develop and grow their livelihoods, VisionFund is catalysing sustainable economic growth to break the cycle of poverty, so that children can reach their potential as communities thrive.

World Vision Internships offer a three-month opportunity for talented students and recent graduates eager to dive into the international relief and development field. We're dedicated to giving you a meaningful learning experience, where you'll grow, gain valuable skills, and connect with other passionate professionals who share our mission.

VisionFund (VF), the microfinance arm of World Vision, provides credit, insurance, and savings to underserved communities worldwide. We invest in our clients' agency and God-given potential and see God grow new small businesses, human potential, and children's futures through our work.

We're excited to invite you to join our VisionFund Strategy Team as an intern! You will help us shape and share our strategies, client success stories, and the impact of our work. Your role will be crucial in expanding the reach of our microfinance efforts and enhancing our communications.

The Strategy Team comprises three sub-teams that work closely to integrate the respective areas: Strategy Realization, Impact, and Marketing & Communication (M&C). This role sits within the Impact team but works closely with the other strategy sub-teams. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful work and make a real difference!

What You'll Do:

  • Measure Client Outcomes through Surveys: Support the end-to-end implementation of surveys measuring the impact of VisionFund's financial products, including enhancing existing dashboards, analysing quantitative and qualitative data to generate actionable insights, and ensuring timely feedback loops to relevant stakeholders.
  • Benchmark Performance with Industry Standards: Conduct comparative analysis between externally available data in the financial inclusion sector and impact-operational data from internal databases to identify areas of over- and underperformance.
  • Monitor Strategy Realization: Collaborate with the Strategy Realization team to design dashboards that support VisionFund's management in making informed decisions
  • Support Systems Integration: Provide support to the impact, strategy realization, and IT teams on integrating impact and operational data to drive operational improvements in the MFIs.
  • Ensure Data Quality Through Validation: Perform rigorous checks to improve the accuracy and reliability of Micro Finance Institutions' survey data.
  • Stay Ahead with Sector Research: Investigate the latest trends, evidence, and best practices in financial inclusion from leading industry bodies, regulators, and investors.

Why Join us:

  • Explore the Global Financial Inclusion Landscape: Dive into the dynamic world of global finance and discover how this sector drives economic growth.
  • Master Cross-Cultural Communication: Work alongside a diverse team from around the world, enhancing your skills in effective, global communication.
  • Elevate Your Data Skills: Take on a key role in analysing and visualizing impact data, providing insights that shape decisions and influence external audiences.
  • Expand Your Horizons: Explore the international relief sector, unleash your leadership skills, and strengthen your Christian faith with Weekly Professional Development Sessions
  • Transform Lives: Take on challenging and meaningful work assignments while developing your technical skills and gaining valuable hands-on experience.
  • Join an Inspiring Community: Form connections with a diverse nationwide intern cohort and colleagues who, inspired by their Christian faith, support children of all backgrounds, even in the most dangerous places.

What You'll Bring:

  • Proficiency in Data Tools: Advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel, and Power BI, or similar data analytics software, will set you apart.
  • Expertise in Data Visualization: Strong abilities in creating impactful charts and presentations that effectively tell a story from data will give you a competitive edge.
  • Online Research Skills: You have experience in conducting thorough and effective online research to support your work and insights.
  • Passionate Communication: You are passionate about using your God-given communication talents and are keen to widen your hands-on experience in the poverty and microfinance sector.
  • Commitment to our Mission: You have a demonstrated commitment to and alignment with the goals, mission, and vision of World Vision, embodying its values in all aspects of your work.
